Blog of the Year 2012

So one of my favorite, recently discovered, bloggers Caroline from Beauty is a Sleeping Cat, has been so kind and awesome to give me a Blog of the Year award. I’m so in awe of this and really grateful. It seems like an awfully big honor for my little blog so I will just stay speechless for a little bit. Or rather, I have been speechless for a bit already since it’s been a little while since I discovered it – I just haven’t really known how to respond. Still don’t, except to express how happy I am about this.

Here’s what Caroline wrote. If you’re not already following her blog, please go and do so if you have any interest in international literature, German literature, war and literature – or just books.

Here are the rules for the Award:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award
2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.
3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award at The Thought Palette and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)
4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them
5 You can now also join the Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience
6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

So as the rules say, here are the blogs I’m passing the award on to. I know this is a bit silly to say this but even though blog awards are a way of recognizing other bloggers and their wonderful blogs, it’s also a way to overlook other equally as wonderful blogs. You can never get mention them all so this is just a way of mentioning a few of the more than 25 book blogs, I try to keep on (check my sidebar to see links to most of the blogs I read and like). These are some of the blogs I turn to first when I turn on my blog reader:

  • Between the Covers. So if you like my blog, you’re going to love Heather’s. We seem to have some sort of mutual agreement on which books to read so when one of us read a book, it’s almost always on the other’s to read list – or it gets put on the list. Only exception is that Heather reads crime fiction and I don’t, not yet anyway. Right now, Heather is both reading through all of Stephen King and all of Margaret Atwood as well as participating/being founding member of the year of reading whatever the f*ck I want so there’s no way of telling what she’ll read as the year progresses.
  • Délaissé. So have you heard of Zola? If you haven’t, then you need to head on over to O’s blog and follow her. She loves Zola so much that she is co-hosting a Zoladiction event in April. Besides Zola and other classics, O writes about her budgies in a way that has made me realize how much personality these small birds have – and how often we simply overlook the individuality and personality of various animals because we keep them in situations where they can’t express this. Anyways, follow her for her love of books. And birds. And photography. And reading by candle light since the power has gone.
  • Love at first Book. Rebecca is fun and reads a lot of books. Fiction, nonfiction, classics, contemporary. She read it all. Oh, and go follow her on twitter too. She’s just as much fun there! Oh, and finally, she has a cute dog which looks like the dog dragon from The Never-Ending Story and Sprockets from Fraggle Rock. And she does post pictures of her dog on the blog so really, this is definitely a blog to follow!
