The Booker Award

I know many bloggers don’t accept awards but I see them as someone padding me on the back and telling me that what I do here actually does mean something to someone other than me. And I like that. So I’m glad to accept awards!

booker-awardI am so lucky that Caitlin from caitlinsternwrites has awarded me the Booker Award – and if I wasn’t happy just be being given an award, I’m definitely happy by being given a Booker award! Very cool name!

Here are the rules for accepting this award:

#1, thank the person who nominated you.

#2, name your five favorite books.

#3, post the award icon on your blog.

#4, nominate five bloggers who have literary and book-centered blogs.

So with no further ado, here we go:

#1: Thank you Caitlin!

#2: And already we run into problems – because your five favorite books?! I would much prefer only to mention one since I always say that John Irving’s The World According to Garp is my favorite novel, I just love it to pieces. But anyway, I’ll try to make  a list of five:

  1. John Irving: The World According to Garp.
  2. Joyce Carol Oates: Blonde.
  3. Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None.
  4. Stephen King: The Stand.
  5. … and I just don’t know which one to pick last – East of EdenThe Grapes of WrathLife – A User’s ManualThe Brothers Lionheart? I don’t know …

#3: Yep, done!

#4: And another problem – it’s always so hard to pick out 5 blogs. I follow quite a few literary blogs and although I’m always behind on reading them and desperately trying to catch up, I have quite a few favorites … But again, I’ll try. Here are 5 of my many favorites …

  1.  A Literary Odyssey
  2. Between the Covers
  3.  Beauty is a Sleeping Cat
  4. BookerTalk
  5. Délaisse

All these bloggers read interesting books and blog about them in ways that make you want to read them while several of them also has an extra twist that makes their blogs some of the ones I always read and always look for when I check out my Byline blog reading app. So please check them out!

Once again, thank you Caitlin 🙂

  1. First and most importantly congratulations on the award. It’s a great testament to the effort you make to create a interesting blog site. I enjoy it because its not just a series of things you’ve read – you also take the time to think more generally about literature. So take delight in the award. Secondly, I was astounded to be nominated as one of your favourites. I do try to make the posts interesting but have no idea really whether they actually are. Blog giving is pretty new for me so you have given my confide once a huge boost. Thank you!

    • Thank you. And I’m glad that you’re glad. We share an interest in the Booker award and you keep me updated with what’s going on – besides, I’m so intrigued by your open university classes so it was really an easy choice to put you and your blog on the list.
